Community Connect in collaboration with Pacific Assist, Northcote Intermediate School and Cook Islands Sports National Olympics Committee (CISNOC) travelled to Rarotonga, Cook Islands to support and deliver the 'Exercise to Beat Diabetes' Turbo Touch Initiative and Community Connect pilot programme.
Northcote intermediate travelled over with 40 students for a cultural experience, and they supported the two events planned on Friday 30th June 2023.
Delivery included promotion and training of Turbo Touch and the delivery of the two pilot events.
An interschool mini tournament that Turbo Touch was the vehicle to promote key messaging around diabetes and raising awareness. The event was supported by the Northcote students who were on a cultural exchange trip.

Working with CISNOC to deliver a whānau multi-sport pop up that introduced the Community Connect model including kai and messaging around healthy food options. From the Mini World Cup event, Northcote Intermediate students were utilized to officiate the evening event.

DEVELOPMENT & TRAINING
Community Connect built relationships with local groups and organisations in Rarotonga to help promote the understanding of the model while developing a better understanding of the Cook Islands culture/communities. During the trip, we delivered some personal development to CISNOC staff and the Prime Ministers wife Daphne Brown to help sustain Turbo Touch, Touchfit360 and the model of Community Connect.
